Say what happened. Bookhand does the books.

Bookkeeping by chat for small-business owners who never trained as accountants. Type it the way you'd text it, and Bookhand drafts it in your QuickBooks Online.

Nothing is saved until you say yes. Bookhand records money. It never moves it.

What this means: Harbor Studio will owe you $2,688. $288 of that is sales tax you collect for the government, so it isn't your income.
When you press "Save invoice", I will:
  • Create an invoice for $2,688.00 including tax to Harbor Studio, due Oct 30, in QuickBooks
  • Not email it yet. I'll ask you about that next.
This goes straight into QuickBooks and Bookhand can't undo it.

Take Bookhand for a spin

This demo runs on made-up books for a small design studio. Type a request or tap an example. You'll get the same draft cards the real app shows, and nothing leaves this page.

What you can ask

The jobs you put off, in your own words

No menus, account codes or debits and credits. Ask for what you need, and Bookhand turns it into the right entry.

Invoice Harbor Studio $2,400 for October

Drafts the invoice, then asks if you want QuickBooks to email it.

Record the $180 bill from Coastline Printing

Files what you owe and when it's due, under the right category.

I spent $64 on printer ink today

Records a purchase you've already paid for, and asks whether tax was part of the $64.

Who still owes me money?

Lists unpaid invoices, oldest first, with what's overdue.

Harbor Studio paid $1,200

Records the payment against their invoice, part payments included.

How did I do last month?

Money in, money out and profit, explained in a sentence.

Add Northwind Coffee as a customer

Checks for a similar name first, then saves their email, phone and address if you have them.

(drops in a photo of a receipt)

Reads the supplier, date, items and tax, and drafts the expense with the receipt attached.

Pay the Greenleaf Paper bill

Records a bill you've already paid, so it stops showing as owing.

How it works

Three steps, and you approve every one

  1. Type it

Tell Bookhand what happened, like you'd tell a friend who's good with numbers. Or drop in a receipt.

  2. Check the draft

Bookhand shows exactly what it will record: the amount, who it's for, which account, and what it means in plain words.

  3. Say yes

Only when you press the button does anything reach QuickBooks. Want to change something first? Just say so.

Staying in charge

Your books, your call

Bookhand is careful because your books matter. It explains first, asks second, and saves last.

Nothing is saved until you confirm

Every invoice, bill, expense and payment starts as a draft card. You read it, then you decide.

It records money. It never moves it.

No money moves. Bookhand doesn't take anything from your bank or send anything to anyone.

You pay and get paid the way you already do. Bookhand writes it down.

It asks before it guesses

Typed "Harbour Studio" but you already have Harbor Studio? Bookhand asks if it's the same one instead of making a duplicate.

It flags likely mistakes

Before you save, Bookhand points out a possible repeat entry, a very large amount, a date in a period your books have closed, a bill number you've already used, or a document in another currency.

Plain words, every time

Each result comes with a short "What this means" note, so you learn your numbers as you go.

Built for real paperwork

Receipts in, sales tax handled

Drop in a receipt or invoice

Snap a photo or drop in a PDF of a receipt, a bill or an invoice you sent. Bookhand reads the supplier, date, items and tax, picks a category, and gives you a draft to check. Once you say yes, the file is attached to the record in QuickBooks.

Made for Canada

Bookhand adds the right GST, HST or PST to your invoices based on where your business is. When you record a bill or a purchase, it asks whether tax was included, so the GST you paid is kept separate from the cost.
